Never a better time for the Irish to buy a used car especially after Brexit

Never a better time for the Irish to buy a used car especially after Brexit

The number of used vehicle imports into Ireland has jumped in recent months, with a 22% increase in the number of car sales year-on-year. In May  only used car imports increased by a huge 51%t over the same period in 2015. This is a trend that is likely to grow with the falling value of the pound. Stephen Fry’s comment on black cars

Stephen Fry’s comment on black cars

In the Series 3, Episode 7 edition of the BBC’s QI quiz show, Stephen Fry made this comment: There’s no evidence that Ford actually ever said, “Any color you like so long as it’s black.” However Ford’s autobiography, My Life and Work, 1922,  includes this passage where Ford quotes  “Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it is black.” Any colour so long as it is black? –  it is likely that Mr Ford was being somewhat flippant in making that remark. However The statement was true when Ford’s biography was published, in 1922, and when he was cutting costs by using a type of quick-drying paint that was only then available in black….

Interestingly, it’s men who are more likely to purchase a car from a franchised dealership. Women are more likely to buy from a private seller (39%) compared to men (30%), or an independent car dealership, 57% compared to 52% of men. Car buying is also a generational game. Those aged 35-54 are more likely to buy from an independent car dealership than any other source, while almost half (49%) of younger buyers, those aged 18-34, are willing to consider buying from a private seller.
